Interactive BIND Zone File & DNS Builder
Visual, compliant DNS zone file generator built for sysadmins, DevOps engineers, and network architects. Construct authoritative RFC 1035 resource records with automated SOA serial generation, modern email security (SPF, DMARC, DKIM), and Certificate Authority Authorization (CAA) issuance locks.
SOA Serial Numbering (YYYYMMDDnn)
Under RFC 1912 Section 2.2, zone serials should follow the 10-digit date format: 4 digits for the year, 2 for the month, 2 for the day, and 2 digits for daily sequence revisions (01 through 99). Secondary nameservers query this serial via IXFR to determine whether zone updates must be transferred.
Trailing Dot Convention in RFC 1035
In BIND zone files, fully qualified domain names (FQDNs) must end with a trailing dot (e.g. ns1.example.com.).
Omitting the trailing dot instructs the nameserver parser to append the current $ORIGIN, resulting
in erroneous duplicated labels like ns1.example.com.example.com..
CAA Issuance Locks (RFC 8659)
Certificate Authority Authorization records prevent unauthorized SSL/TLS certificate issuance. Specifying
0 issue "letsencrypt.org" legally binds all commercial Certificate Authorities from signing
certificates for your apex or subdomains unless explicitly authorized.
