The most coveted, exclusive digital real estate on Earth. In December 1993, IANA Director Jon Postel reserved all single-letter second-level domain names to protect the namespace from depletion. Only three were registered prior to the freeze and remain active today: Q.com, X.com, and Z.com.

In July 2017, Musk reacquired X.com from PayPal, citing sentimental value, before re-platforming Twitter under x.com in 2023.

Following CenturyLinks acquisition of Qwest in 2011 (and subsequent corporate rebrand to Lumen Technologies), Q.com has been utilized as the central residential internet portal and high-speed broadband customer gateway.

In November 2014, Japanese technology conglomerate GMO Internet acquired the domain for 800 million JPY ($6.8 million USD) to serve as the corporate flagship for its global crypto and retail forex operations.
